Start Wearing Purple by idolhands Start Wearing Purple by idolhands
In top hat, full length coat & purple ensemble at a Chihuly exhibit.

Title taken from a song by gypsy-punk singer Gogol Bordello. Used in the surreal, poignantly serious (though humorous) film Everything Is Illuminated -- about life, the holocaust and the holocaust of life; beautiful yet horrible, horrible yet beautiful. See it.

Start wearing purple wearing purple
Start wearing purple for me now
All your sanity and wits they will all vanish
I promise, it's just a matter of time...

Are those possibly Chihuly's purple spikes I see in the background? I'm quite certain it is. :D

You have tremendous presence, I applaud that!

And I'm so proud of myself, I actually knew Start Wearing Purple. It struck *bradsgurl's fancy and she shared it with me. I originally saw this at my cousin's house and she saw it over my shoulder and said that it was very awesome---I proceeded to brag about you, just the right amount. Man, I feel lucky. :)

That comment meant a lot to me and I tried to hold it in my heart when I did my most recent photo stunt nonsense (soon to be uploaded, if all goes well).

I'm really glad you know the song and I hope you manage to see the film as well. I have no idea how Gogol suddenly started circulating, before I saw that somewhat dated film I never heard of him and then suddenly he'd pop up here and there. But ~ktpoole891 was the BIG fan who shared a range of his tunes with me. How could I resist a listen to punk-gypsy?! By the way, I have a new friend at Last.fm ([link]) who lives in Isreal so I'm listening to more music in Hebrew!

Thank you, I'm flattered. I brag about u too. ;)

I haven't commented on your new photo set yet, but I HAVE seen it and even downloaded it... It is very extremely awesome. You still have tremendous presence and I seriously loved the wig, I just have to say that first. But the poses (and the glowstick!!11one) were awesome as well. Stop being so gosh darn cool by nature, man!

I really should, but right now I'm just trying to find time for myself. I just got the worst grade in math on a test that I've gotten in years, so I'm a little blah right now. (It was below failing if you're curious, certainly not a good thing to my already struggling math average) My teacher is, as my friend would say, "A witch with a capital 'B'." I went to guidance about it though so I may start staying after with another teacher in order to try and save my but. Agh, and there's only two weeks left in this marking period. Ridiculous! (I seem to have really bad test anxiety in math. I mean, I freak out for all my tests, but I blank every time I have a math test).

That's totally awesome about the Israeli music, hands. There's a lot of good stuff there and I'll have to definitely check that guy out in more depth. (To be ironic, I was actually discovering some really good Christian music the other day. *facepalms with the lulz*

That's awesome, it makes my day much better. :)

I am not complete until I meet your approval, even though I remain shy of journals and so forth (still asking for forgiveness there). I love glow sticks, too bad the "glow" wasn't quite captured.

I do very, very much understand. For those of us who are achievers by nature or normally accustomed to success, failure is a very big challenge. I do not admire those who think that failing is cool, but I can see how pretending to feel that way can give fake self-esteem. Learning to fail though, in way that you fall off a bike and get back on, can be healthy. You don't know what you are made of until a challenge like that. And sometimes we crash, wether we like it or not. Remember that stress forced even me to have to repeat classes and due to my health I am behind in EVERYTHING in life, in my opinion. So one more for the road: :manhug:

Also, "you" time is important and I respect that. Thank you for telling me, since being ignored is of course a different feeling entirely. I know it's not easy being a sunshine all the time, since believe it or not, I'm the optimist of my family.

True, true, what you say is (as usual) very wise. I'm fightin' the failure though. I am on the same grounds as you when it comes to people who feel that failing is cool. As Mr. Perricone said once, "It's usually the people who seem totally oblivious of their grades and carefree in high school who will struggle the most later on in life." Plus, most of the time it's good stress (I think I'd get too bored if I ignored my grades entirely anyway). Like I said, I went to guidance about it and I seriously love my guidance counselor... Since our school (as a public school) is still generally on the small side, most people are very kind.

I don't know if you're behind in everything in life, but I will say that we're all behind in something so it's nothing to fret about too much, I don't think.

Ohhh, I hope I didn't give you the feeling of being ignored. I totally did not mean to if I did, I've just been so busy with school and stuff, and I just get so tired on the weekends. If you haven't noticed, my everything online has been pretty lackluster, so it's definitely not a ignoring thing. :cuddle: I'm sorry if I made you feel that way. And wow, I wouldn't have guessed, but hey... Why not.

You look like someone I'd stalk just from the way you're dressed. :3

I apparently attracted the attention of a little boy who felt the same, whose mother came up later and told me so. I thought that was rather cute (he hid from me as she did that).

There was another cool-looking kid of about 12-14 and his snazzy emo sister that stared at me for a while too.

I used to just look and try and not be too obvious but now I've taken to actually call out the person I'm "stalking" and tell them that I love whatever it is the reason I'm stalking them about. When I was at the medical institution for admission I kept looking at this guy dressed heavily gothic and eventually told him to show me his boots and he said he liked mine too. :]

But your sense of fashion is even more unique so it's bound to get more attention and have a better impression than goths. :XD:
I do like it when I get a kid's attention.

Good for you!!

Once in a while I get a photographer's attention as well, but so far my health condition hasn't been reliable enough for me to consider seriously doing anything.

I do hope that whatever it is that's affecting you can be made better. I don't like my friends suffering. :<

It's OK, physically I've suffered for about 17 years I'm used to it. I only wish it had been either emotional or physical, because the things I've been put through by other people in combination with the physical suffering has been terribly alienating and damaging. It's funny, I joke with myself, that I sort of which the doctor could destroy and reset my brain the way he's about to do to my body. See..nothing can erase that damage and as you know with your moods...it can sneak up on ya now and then, although I get better at handling it.

Of course, none of us do. I don't mind suffering if it leads to improvement, but I don't like wasting my precious time (or money).

Quote from a journal of someone I watch:

"...just because you know there are people with far worse problems than yours... doesn't mean you don't deserve a piece of that cake called 'luck' too."

Is never a waste if it makes a change in your life even if just a tiny bit.

There...is an off-balance logic to that statement that doesn't sit well with me, sorry, but I appreciate the sentiment that you thought it expressed. Also, there is that mysterious "someone" thing again (and careful quoting anything that may be f-locked or private). Heh.

I like your words and they are ones that I tend to cling to.

Mmm, I've never seen the movie, but I do know of Gogol Bordello (and I likewise knew the singer was in the movie and they used Gogol Bordello songs). I have this song on my MP3 player!

I like this one! Surely someone could make use of this ghostly chap in a top hat! :D This one and the other blurry shot could easily contribute a spooky apparition for some talanted photoshopper.

Your stock contributions always make me wish that I had more of a hand at photoshop.

Do try! It's not terribly hard at all.

I'm guilty of being a typically masculine person about not reading instructions, but I really will do it one day and have had plenty of fun going The American Hero route (ach, I'm dating myself).
