When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Artist's Comments
San Francisco, CA - USA.
There is someone who runs around the city transforming the ends of pipes into these colorful statements, street art reminiscent of Smurf villages; they are no taller than your ankle. I prefer the natural effect such wonderful nonsense has on the mind and reality without need of any narcotic, though I couldn't resist the title. Thanks. Yeah, perhaps they were in a hurry as to not get caught. I suppose this would still be considered "effacing" public property (especially since these are usually outside establishments).
Although, the drips, the runs, the dirt...it all adds a certain je ne se que. -- はじめまして! Artist, Writer/Poet, Photographer, traditional medium mostly, anime, sci-fi and the bizarre. I must say, the door is not something I'd seen before or since. Thank you again, it's nice to share it. Goes to show how the commonplace can become extraordinary when viewed through the right lenses.

The pipes are mostly likely the property and responsibility of the establishment (a restaurant in this case, sometimes a shop, or even a professional structure).
It's sort of like if you suddenly found your mail box turned into a monster face or a message written on your purse...might make you laugh or it might really tick you off. However, there is something more ubiquitous, anonymous, and certainly more adamant about this. I've seen them around for over a decade and this particular one was not removed by the place as far as I know. It is true street art and does add, or reflect, an element to the city it exists in. -- はじめまして! Artist, Writer/Poet, Photographer, traditional medium mostly, anime, sci-fi and the bizarre. Shroooooooooms~ It's such a funny word.
Oh, looky the little door! I'd paint the tube white on the last one and add eyes and a smilie mouth instead! -- SPECIAL PETITION: Please help my ill friend - [link] I'LL DRAW FOR YOU IF YOU DO! Instead of commissions I'll ask for a donation of a minimun of $5 and I will draw anything you want! |
