Screenshot of desktop with my livejournal and last.fm accounts (in Japanese) visible. Only I can see the cute pixel versions of Willy Wonka & Charlie Bucket in my icon buttons ('edit entry' and 'edit tags' respectfully). I keep my sweeter natures hidden.
That is definitely a desktop, I mean it'd be rather hard to mistake it for something else . . . .

Tall. Tall and absurdly thin. And good-natured. A bit like a preying mantis that doesnt prey -- a non-preying mantis if you like. A sort of pleasant genial mantis thats given up preying and taken up tennis instead.
I use PCs but Apple has always felt more natural to me for some reason. Then again, I find that I am flexible in more ways than technological. I suppose it depends on the user. In general, I tend to sum up that PC's make you think like them while Apple tends to try and think like a human. PC's do make sense in certain situations but I think Apple is very friendly, hence the chosen name of the company (which also happens to be my favorite snack).

My neighbors are all fugwumps and lock up thier airports so I mostly can't use them, not to mention when I DID have it on, someone was hacking into my system and looking around. I'm sure they got an interesting eyefull. Wireless makes that too easy to do. I use DSL and it rules. Hackers can still get in, but its harder. Also, DSL can be unplugged.
Heh. I'm surprised someone noticed that.
Where is your quote from? It's nifty.

Eek, I feel very exposed suddenly.. *glancing up at my airport icon*
This makes me look really silly, but I actually can't recall the book that the quote is from. I think it's from Queer Theory, Gender Theory, by Riki Wilchins. Yeah... that sounds right.
Yes, be careful. Get firewall software from your local computer shop, it's very much worth the investment to protect yourself! Don't be skimpy and arm yourself with knowledge. Maybe your nieghbors aren't as uh, curious as mine were or as savvy? I live in a crowded area but coffee shops are prime places that hackers exploit. I did not have a laptop and I was still sought out so its not only laptops this can happen to. Many hackers don't want to hurt, they just want to poke around but one can not count on that either when valuabe personal data may be on the desktop/hard drive. Then there is the potential of a stalker or someone who has emotional cause (obsession, vendetta, etc.) to want more access to your personal data.
