The scene is my imaginings of what might have happened in the gaps of Willy Wonka's childhood as portrayed by Tim Burton in Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He is in Dr. Wilbur Wonka D.D.R.'s office, where he found a collection of mysterious potions and objects, then is depicted crying in the empty lot that was left behind after the building dissapeared. The ring is meant to have been his mother's and one of many things he took before disobeying his father.
"Le Petit" Willy Wonka was played by Blair Dunlop.
Art Details: Acrylic paint (mostly Liquitex), various scraps of paper, and oodles of elbow greese. I like to double back and re-ink a lot to keep the integrity of the lines in tact. The texture of Willy's suit where he's reaching is created with my own fingertips. They symbols are from 'alchemy', the ring is based off the design of a 'claddagh'.
I wanted to be truer to Dr. Wonka's home and experiment with using duller and more subtle colors for this piece.
Thank you very, very much. I feel fortunate to have made such a kind artistic friend who allows me to use thier art in such ways. The original sketches were a complete surprise but from the second I saw them I got my inspiration for how I wanted to color with it and experiment with the story format.

Of course. I'm always honored to try that. And never forget that YOU'RE art is still among my favorites as well as the memory of the day you showed it to me.
You know, it might make a fun ~TheMonthlies challenge to present line art and have everyone take a turn coloring it.

Hey there you! Thanks. I must admit that my minimalism needs work, but my art reflects my colored mind. Even still, I admire those who can create drama with less.
