Who doesn't like the anthropomorphic neko-shoujo (cat girl) from the famous Capcom video game Darkstalkers? Much fan-art has been created on this sexy character design and I wasn't immune to it either. I always thought it must be cool to be the original creator of something like that.

This simple line art was used in a few 'zines (fan magazines) and maybe a program guide or badge. Can't remember, but I'm thinking this might be a nice piece to play around with in photoshop since I've never colored it in traditional media. I tended to specialize in pin-up shots so that they could easily be used for advertising. I was taken with commercial art from 11 years old.

ART DETAILS: A simple design playing with the movement of line and complimenting backdrop - an aspect that I often admire in Asian art. Inked with Higgins black India ink and an acrylic brush.

I think I need to practice drawing more non-anime and still life things. I did a great deal of that when I was a child, but it's been a while...
